novelty
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now (even if we don't speak often or ever) please post a comment with a completely made up, fictional memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - but it has to be fake. When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your LJ and see what your friends come up with. List 10 artists you've seen live in Concert - no peeking at the questions to come!!! 1. The X-Ecutioners 2. Tool 3. Nine Inch Nails 4. Jonathan Coulton 5. They Might Be Giants 6. Electric Six 7. Justice 8. Everclear 9. Deadsy 10. (Hed) P.E. Song you wish you'd seen number 2 perform? Third Eye How many times have you seen number 3? Once. Where did you see number 9 play? X-Fest, Sommerset WI Favorite song number 8 played? Santa Monica Who did you see number 7 with? Can't remember his name... some other French electro DJ. Favorite venue you've seen 4 play? He's only ever played the Varsity when playing Minneapolis, and it's a great venue for him. Favorite concert moment from number 6? There is a moment in "Improper Dancing" where the singer says "stop", pauses, then says "continue" and finishes the song. In one live version he says "stop", they pause, perform "Dance Commander" in its entirety, then "continue!" and finish "Improper Dancing". It was hilarious, and both the songs are great. Best thing about number 1's performance? The fact that they can work together so smoothly and tightly. Why did you go to see number 10? The Rock in Maplewood How many times have you seen number 2? Once. Where did you see number 8 perform? Edgefest, Sommerset WI Best cover song you've seen from number 9? I only saw "Tom Sawyer" live. They have since added an interesting cover of "Paint it Black" to their catalog. Would you go to see number 7 again? Possibly. They would need to have another strong album to motivate me to go. Either that, or be part of a really cool line up. Song you never really liked until seeing number 1 in concert? I had grown tired of "X-Ecutioner's Theme Song", but the live version sold me on it. Which albums do you own from number 6? Fire, Senor Smoke, Switzerland... this activity reminds me that I need to buy their new album. Worst thing about number 3's concert? My feet were randomly hurting that evening, and I fount it kind of distracting. The only three songs that number 4 would have to play to make a concert? Code Monkey Re: Your Brains Skullcrusher Mountain Baby Got Back How far did you travel to see number 1? 10 Miles how was number 5's show? They were all various levels of delightful (although the instore for a Children's album wasn't much to write home about). what happened the night of number 1's show? Not much really. Saw a crazy 12 year old DJ, got bored of Brother Ali, and my buddy tried to steal a custom turntable pad. Your Score: Sad Cookie Cat 61% Affectionate, 37% Excitable, 68% Hungry You are the classic Shakespearian tragedy of the lolcat universe. The sad story of a baking a cookie, succumbing to gluttony, and in turn consuming the very cookie that was to be offered. Bad grammar ensues.

That was unexpected Your Score: Woody Allen Your film will be 54% romantic, 37% comedy, 35% complex plot, and a $ 24 million budget. Be prepared to have your life story shot entirely in New York City -- though lately Woody's been loving shooting in London. Also, your music soundtrack is all jazz from before 1949. Filmography: Annie Hall, Manhattan, Stardust Memories, Everyone Says I Love You, Match Point, Scoop, etc. Woody has released one film per year consistently for the past 35 years. For the past 15 years he's been trying to make films like his older, funnier ones, just like characters in his Stardust Memories film suggest throughout. Regardless of his personal life, his films are American classics.
I've only seen one Woody Allen movie (Manhattan Murder Mystery), so I'm not sure what it means that he should be directing my life. Current Mood: tiredCurrent Music: "illegal dub" Dub Trio | | Monday, May 21st, 2007 | | 8:31 pm |
First hurdle cleared!
I had a pretty good phone interview last week for the Leadership Development program with Wells Fargo. In a week or two I will know if I get to fly out to Phoenix for a face to face interview. I think I have a good shot, but it's hard to say since a phone interview provides so little feedback. If I get the job, I hope I get to work in Shoreview, but if I must, I think I am ready to move to Phoenix. This should be good for a larf
Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal, and give out some letters of your own. Let me know if you want a letter. Unclemilo gave me "M" 1. Minnesota - I am a huge local booster. I love this place. I love its attractions both social and natural. I love its teams, even when they are not good (I wanted to find a wittier comment there, and failed). Right now I am prepared to move if need be, but my heart will always be with MN. As an addendum... 2. Minneapolis - Anyone who tells you there are good things in St. Paul has an agenda. Do not trust them. I will give them the Italian restaurant Cosetta's, but I really want to figure out some complex proof that it is not actually in St Paul. 3. Myocardial infarction - Not the medical problem, that's awful... just the actual words. 4. Me First & the Gimme Gimmes - Punks covering non-punk songs... what's not to like? They were in town last weekend and I missed them... this makes me sad. I've seen them live once though, so I take solace in that. Being in a mosh pit going nuts to "Over the Rainbow" is one of my most cherished memories. 5. Muse - I was hooked from the moment I first heard them. They are probably the smartest band out there that is still primarily pop in nature. 6. Meat - I <3 meat. 7. Math - Some forms of it (especially the more theoretical versions) will eventually leave me confused and sad, but I still have a special place in my heart for the creative use of numbers. 8. Megatron - I will give mad love to any transfomer, this one just happens to start with the letter M. 9. Mario - While I have played and loved many games over the years, I am still most attached to anything involving the world's most heroic plumber 10. Matt - My best friend's name starts with M. I guess he wins. Current Mood: coldCurrent Music: "Bath Time" Orbital | | 6:21 pm |
Time for a little serious thinkin
Yesterday one of the office managers suggested that I apply for Wells Fargo's leadership development program. It would be a one year job that would involve first learning about all the different facets of wells fargo customer service, sales, and operations, and then working with a mentor to gain leadership and management experience in one of the fields. It is fairly competitive, so I would definitely have to work hard to get in. I will probably try to shoot for it, as it will be a great career move whether or not I stay with WF. However, it will be the most I have ever gotten immersed in pure corporate culture, which would take a while to get used to. It would also involve a lot of travel, which would be mostly awesome, but definitely have its disadvantages too. I think I definitely needed this reason to think about what I'm doing and what I want, to shit or get off the pot.
